FALL/WINTER 2009
posted October 22, 2009

With summer becoming a distant memory, attention is turned to the fabulous yarns produced for the fall/winter season. This year I have published three new books, all highlighting the fabulous range of yarns and colours produced for Knitting Fever. The inspiration for my first book, an Araucania collection, was taken from my home town of Ilkley in West Yorkshire. The photography was all based in and around the town, including shots by the Cow and Calf rock formation, the side of the River Wharf and outside the famous Betty’s Tea Room. To get more of a feel for this lovely part of the world just read the introduction featured on the inside cover. The book offers a range of ladies garments in various designs, ideal for any age range.

The second book to be published was a Queensland book. This book has a very English country feel to it, with inspiration taken from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Photography all centred around The Devonshire Hotel on the edge of the Bolton abbey Estate which gave an aristocratic ambience to the style of the book. Again some fabulous yarns were used to create a range of ladies garments including some mother and daughter sets.

An Araucania Mini Knits book was the third book to be produced. This is a delightful fun book containing twenty one designs for all the family. The range includes cushion covers, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, baby blanket and even some ladies small garments.

As always enjoy the whole publishing process of these books and will, along with my much appreciated team, endeavour to produce future brochures that will be a well worthy addition to any knitter’s collection. I hope you continue to take pleasure from my books and I thank you for your endless support.

Spring-Summer 2009
posted June 17, 2009

The last few months have seen the publication of four new and exciting pattern books, of which I am extremely proud. The first one ‘Flowers’ being a Noro collection, consists of beautiful designs that really bring out the fabulous quality of the Noro yarns. It combines the inspiration of the Yorkshire flowers that bloom within the summer months and the Noro yarns to create a delightful pattern book. My first Queensland collection combines a variety of new and existing yarns, with garments designed for children, ladies and men. This is a fresh looking brochure depicting both classic and modern garments, some having rich stitch detail. My first Mini Knits book received great attention, which prompted the requirements for a second book to be published. This new book consists of 32 designs and along with Ladies garments introduces designs for babies, children and Men as well as favourites, such as gloves, scarves and hats. The latest book to be published is thenew Spring/Summer 2009 Araucania collection. This incorporates Ladies and Children’s garments along with some lovely cushions, throws and socks. An elegant brochure depicting the fabulous Araucania yarns in timeless designs that also display great stitch detail.

At the moment I am working on three new brochures for Autumn/Winter. These include a new Araucania collection, Queensland brochure and an Araucania Mini Knits book. I am still very excited to be producing these books and will, along with my much appreciated team, endeavour to produce brochures that will be a well worthy addition to any knitter’s collection. May I take this opportunity to thank you for your ever-lasting support and I hope you continue to enjoy these lovely books.

F/W 2008 Update
posted July 11, 2008

Dear Knitters:

Just an update on my latest collections. Over the past 5 months I have been working on two publications for
Knitting Fever, the
first book is for Noro, using the popular Kureyon
,Kureyon Sock Yarn, Silk Garden and Silk GardenSock Yarn. The book consists of 16 designs across the four qualities, producing Cardigans, Sweaters, Jackets and Hats. It has been photographed at Ripley Castle in North Yorkshire, England, UK, the setting for my own wedding, therefore a place very close to my heart. It is a beautiful but small castle which has been privately owned by the Ingilby family for the last 690 years.

The second publication is for the Araucania range, introducing all your favourite qualities and shades. This book has been enjoyable to produce because the yarns are so beautiful and consist of lots of different fibres, from 100% wool to lovely wool silk mixtures. This collection has been inspired by the 18th century and has been photographed in Haworth, famous for being the home of the literary Brontë sisters, whose works included Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. The garments are fashionable yet have an 18th century influence which is depicted through the beautiful locations of the photography, creating an up-to-date look with a little history.

Happy Knitting!

An Introduction
posted March 31, 2008

Dear Knitters

My name is Jenny Watson and I have enjoyed producing my first
publication for Noro.

I have worked in the hand knitting industry for over twenty years
and gained valuable experience from many leading United
Kingdom brands working as Chief Designer for Sirdar, Emu, Robin
and Studley. Working for these companies gave me valuable
experience across a diverse range of both yarns and companies. In
more recent years I have worked as a freelance designer allowing
me time to spend with my children, Ellie, Joshua and Timothy. Living
in a small Yorkshire (England) spa town of Ilkley, I am surrounded
by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, heart of the hand
knitting industry, which is a constant inspiration to me.
The Noro Designer Mini Knits Book I have produced is aimed at
using all those odd balls of yarn you may have and hopefully
encourage the more novice knitter to pick up their needles and have
a go!

The book has thirty designs ranging from hats, scarves and gloves
to sweaters and cardigans, something to tempt all knitters, even the
younger age groups.

I very much hope you enjoy knitting my designs and look forward
to creating more.

Happy knitting.

Jenny
